Protect Your Family

When I moved into my current home, I almost immediately noticed the roaches. While the place wasn’t overrun with them, I saw them far too often. For a few years, my husband and I tried almost every anti-roach product available on the market. We would enjoy success for a short duration. However, the roaches always came back. Then, a wonderful thing happened. We hired a pest control company to spray our home for termites. As a bonus, the chemicals used to prevent termites got rid of our roach issue. If you want to protect your family from harmful roaches, contact a local pest control entity today. On this blog, you will learn how to rid your home of roaches for good with the help of a pest control specialist.

Tips For Using Traps To Get Rid Of Mice

Jennie Lucas

Mice are stealthy little pests that like to hide during the day. They can be difficult to get rid of once you have an infestation. They reproduce rapidly, so it's possible to have mice in your house in alarming numbers if you don't take steps to get them under control. Once they're inside, about the only way to get rid of them is with traps of some kind. Here are a few tips for using the traps effectively.

Secure Bait Tightly

Mice eat a variety of foods, so you can use most anything in the traps. Try something like peanut butter or meat that they normally wouldn't find when hunting for something to eat. Use only a small amount or a mouse could nibble at the edges and fail to set off the trap. Also, consider tying the bait to the trap with unscented dental floss so the mouse can't grab it and run.

Use Many Traps

You'll catch the most mice quicker if you start with a strong attack. Use multiple traps even if you think you only have one or two mice. Small snap traps work well for mice, and they aren't that expensive.

Place Traps in the Right Location

Place the food next to the wall since mice like to hug the wall when they roam through the house. Even if the food doesn't attract them, they might walk over a trap accidentally if it is positioned properly. Secure the trap to the floor with putty or tape because if the trap slides when the mouse touches it, the mouse will probably back away.

Offer A Variety Of Foods And Traps

Mice are curious creatures and they may be intrigued by your army of traps. They may wander into some just to check them out or investigate the food odors. Try using a variety of foods when you set up your traps so you have better luck at baiting them with something they like. Also, try a variety of traps. Besides snap traps, there are glue traps, multiple mouse traps, live traps, and electric traps. The multiple traps allow several mice to enter at the same time.

If you're concerned about killing the mice in a humane way, then consider electric traps that kill the mice quickly. Live trapping is a consideration, as long as you turn the mice loose on your property. If you take the mice to a far-off woods, they may die due to unfamiliar territory and lack of food and shelter. Of course, if you turn the mice loose in your yard, you want to make sure your home is sealed tight or they will just come right back inside.

Removing mice once they are indoors can be difficult and frustrating. Mice are tenacious and if they love living in your house, they'll work hard to get inside and won't go away easily. If you need help with mouse control, call a pest control company before the mice destroy your belongings, ruin your food, and create a foul odor in the house.
