Protect Your Family

When I moved into my current home, I almost immediately noticed the roaches. While the place wasn’t overrun with them, I saw them far too often. For a few years, my husband and I tried almost every anti-roach product available on the market. We would enjoy success for a short duration. However, the roaches always came back. Then, a wonderful thing happened. We hired a pest control company to spray our home for termites. As a bonus, the chemicals used to prevent termites got rid of our roach issue. If you want to protect your family from harmful roaches, contact a local pest control entity today. On this blog, you will learn how to rid your home of roaches for good with the help of a pest control specialist.

Don't Get Ants In Your Pants: 3 Reasons To Call For Pest Control This Summer

Jennie Lucas

Summer is almost here. If you haven't called an exterminator yet, it's time to do that. As soon as the weather warms up, ants come out of the woodwork. They also come up out of the ground. If you're not careful, you can end up with an ant invasion. Unfortunately, there's a variety of ants that can take over your house and your yard. You might not know this, but there are more than 12,000 species of ants in the world.

A lot of those ants can be found in the United States. Some ants are harmless. Other ants can cause serious problems for you. That's why you need to hire an exterminator as soon as the weather warms up. Before you reach for the can of bug spray, read the list below. Here are three types of ants that can invade your home this summer. If you've already started seeing ants around the house, now's the time to call for pest control services.

Carpenter Ants

If you've seen large ants crawling on your home, it's time to call the exterminator. That's especially important if you've seen a trail of sawdust behind the ants. Carpenter ants aren't interested in you. But, they are interested in your home. In fact, if left alone, carpenter ants can do as much damage to your home as termites do. That's why you need to get rid of them as fast as possible.

Pavement Ants

If you have small black ants crawling out from the pavement, don't use bug sprays to get rid of them. Pavement ants can create a serious nuisance for you. Pavement ants are attracted to all types of sweet food. They may live under the pavement, but they will invade your home for the right food. Unfortunately, pavement ants don't travel alone. You'll usually find large groups of ants swarming out from the pavement. One of the easiest ways to get rid of the once and for all is to hire an exterminator. An exterminator will follow the trail to the nest and take care of the entire colony.

Fire Ants

If you find a mound of red ants in your yard, don't try to tackle the problem alone. You've found a colony of fire ants. Fire ants won't cause problems if they're left alone. But, as soon as the nest is bothered, fire ants will come out fighting. Unfortunately, fire ant stings cause an intense burning sensation. Fire ants were imported into the US, and can now be found in at least 14 states, including Texas and Virginia.
